Salixnothula Andersson
Publ. & Syn.Salix herbacea L. x S. polaris Wahlenb.
NotesThe justification for inclusion of just this among the hundreds of reported Salix hybrids is that it is a tetraploid offspring from diploid and hexaploid parents (see Borgen and Elven 1983), with good seed production (Elven unpubl.) and probably reproductively isolated from both parents, and that it in northwestern Europe often occurs outside the ranges one or the other of its parents and seems to be self-sustaining.
