NotesKatenin: Two populations of Populus balsamifera, previously assumed to be exclusively North American, have been found on the Penkigney and Senyavin bays in East Chukotka (Katenin 1980, 1993).
Chromosomes(1) 38 (2x). - Canada, U.S.A. - Several reports.
(2) 76 (4x). - Blackburn and Harrison (1924, for both P. balsamifera and P. tacamahaca, accidental tetraploids?).
