NotesThere are other temperate races, e.g., subsp. juressi (Link ex K. Wein) Coutinho in western Europe north to Ireland.
Chromosomes48 (8x). - Europe, Canada (E), U.S.A. (E), Greenland. - Numerous reports.
Not included: Two reports of 2n = 48 and ca. 48 (8x) from British Columbia (Taylor and Mulligan 1968) and Alberta (Packer and Whitkus 1982) are enigmatic. Viola palustris is not otherwise suggested to be present in the western parts of North America.
