NotesThe arctic and near-arctic material is commonly assigned to a var. brainerdii. The reported differences are slight - plants glabrous or glabrescent vs. persistently hairy - and the variety occurs more or less throughout the range of the species. We do not accept "brainerdii" as a taxon.
