Epilobium palustre L.
Publ. & Syn.Epilobium tundrarum Sam., Bot. Not. 1922: 264 (1922). Described from Vaigach and Polar Ural (European Russia). See notes.
NotesSamuelsson (1922) illustrated three specimens from Vaigach (in S) as Epilobium tundrarum: "Ljamtschino Bay", 1902, leg. Ekstam; "Jugor Schar", 1902, leg. Ekstam; and "Jugor Schar", 1875, leg. Kjellman and Lundström. A lectotype should be chosen among these.
Raven (1968) and Löve and Löve (1975a) accepted E. tundrarum, whereas Skvortsov (1980a, PAF proposal) included it in E. palustre. Hoch commented that he agrees with Skvortsov in this regard and considers E. tundrarum to be a locally distinct race, similar to many others within the range of the extremely variable E. palustre.
