Saxifraga codyana Zhmylev | |
Publ. & Syn. | Zhmylev, Byull. Moskovsk. Obshch. Isp. Prir., Otd. Biol. 97, 1: 95 (1992). Holotype (DAO 650536): Canada: the Yukon Territory, the British Mountains, tributary of the Firth River, 6907'N 14015'W, 07. July 1980, leg. W.J. Cody 27,166. - Saxifraga bronchialis subsp. codyana (Zhmylev) Cody, Canad. Field-Naturalist 108: 94 (1994). |
Notes | Murray: Saxifraga codyana is nearly restricted to the Endicott and Philip Smith mountains in northeastern Alaska and the British and Richardson mountains in northwestern Canada. Inspection of material (ALA) from northeastern Alaska and the Yukon Territory has not convinced me that S. codyana is worth recognition as more than perhaps local modifications of S. funstonii (or S. bronchialis subsp. funstonii). Brouillet and Elvander (2009b) synonymized S. codyana with S. bronchialis subsp. funstonii. |
Chromosomes | ca. 80-112. - Siberia (N), Far East (N), Alaska, Canada (NW). - Several reports. Not included: Zhukova and Petrovsky (1977) reported 2n = 48 and 48-52 from West Chukotka and Zhukova and Petrovsky (1987a) reported 16 counts with a range from 2n = 28 to 112 under this name from northeastern Asia. They probably applied the name in a much wider meaning than done by Zhmylev. The reports and counts need sorting by voucher inspection. |
