Chrysosplenium alternifolium subsp. arctomontanum V.V. Petrovsky
Publ. & Syn.V.V. Petrovsky, Bot. Zhurn. 65: 658 (1980). Holotype (LE): Russian Far East: West Chukotka, "ad fl. Malyi Keperveem, ad nives", 06. Aug. 1976, leg. V. Petrovsky 76-90.
NotesPetrovsky and Elven: The high polyploid subsp. arctomontanum seems to be constant in its morphological features even if the differences from subsp. sibiricum are mostly quantitative. As it differs both in morphology and ploidy levels and has a distinct, albeit small range, we accept it. The fifteen chromosome counts (partly unpublished) are all based on plants from West Chukotka. One of the 2n = 66 counts is from the type specimen.
Chromosomes(1) 66 (11x). - Far East (West Chukotka). - Zhukova and Petrovsky (1977, 1980, three counts).
(2) 72 (12x). - Far East (West Chukotka). - Zhukova and Petrovsky (1976).
