NotesAtriplex lapponica has often been included in A. longipes, e.g., by Jalas and Suominen (1980). It is distant from that species and more closely related to A. littoralis L. and/or A. gmelinii. It is accepted by Gustafsson (2001) and by us.
Chromosomes18 (2x). - Europe (Norway), Russia (NW). - Löve and Löve (1975c); K. Fredriksen (unpubl., based on reliable identification, vouchers in TROM).
Not included: Löve and Löve (1975c) reported 2n = 18 for Atriplex longipes subsp. lapponica from Iceland. Atriplex lapponica does not occur in Iceland. The report most likely belongs to A. glabriuscula.
