Bistorta (L.) Adans. | |
Publ. & Syn. | Excluded: Bistorta officinalis (B. major). |
Notes | Several authors have merged Bistorta with Persicaria under the latter name. However, the majority of authors in recent years have accepted two genera (e.g., Elven 1994; Karlsson 2000b; Elven et al. 2005; Freeman and Hinds 2005). Good molecular support for this separation is found in Kim and Donoghue (2008, cpDNA and nrITS) where Persicaria constitutes one and the combined Agonogonon + Bistorta + Koenigia another main branch in the phylogeny. |
Chromosomes | 40 (4x). - Europe (Norway). - Löve and Löve (1975c); Engelskjøn (1979); Karlsson (2000c, secondary report from three provinces). |
