NotesPapaver nudicaule subsp. insulare is only known from Wrangel Island. Both subsp. insulare and subsp. americanum are widely separated from all other parts of P. nudicaule s. lat. and may represent relics, respectivelly, on the now largely submerged Chukchi Sea Shelf and in American Beringia.
