NotesPetrovsky (1999) reported Papaver anjuicum to be a narrowly distributed West Chukotkan alpine species "very similar to P. pulvinatum" and, on the other hand, "P. mcconnellii may be considered as the West American counterpart of P. anjuicum Tolm.". No material has been available for molecular studies.
Chromosomes42 (6x). - Far East (West Chukotka)). - Zhukova and Petrovsky (1980, 1985a).
Not included: Reports of 2n = 42 (6x) from Wrangel Island (Petrovsky and Zhukova 1981; Zhukova and Petrovsky 1985a). Petrovsky (1999) did not accept the species from Wrangel Island and these reports should belong elsewhere.
