NotesPetrovsky (1999) assigned Papaver calcareum to his P. dahlianum aggregate. This species of Wrangel Island and the northeastern Chukchi Peninsula is accepted provisionally in view of the large variation reported in ploidy levels. It resembles P. "murrayi" and P. dahlianum (see below) in general morphology.
