Ranunculus acris L.
Publ. & Syn.L., Sp. Pl.: 554 (1753). Lectotype (BM-000628911): Europe. Herb. Clifford: 231, Ranunculus 18 (Benson 1954: 337).
NotesThere are other races of Ranunculus acris in temperate parts of Europe, e.g., subsp. friesianus (see Casual taxa). It is not clear whether R. acris s. str. is native in the Arctic in Norway but it is persisting and probably an archaeophyte. The native plants in Iceland and Greenland belong to R. subborealis subsp. villosus as do the majority of the adventive plants we have inspected from northwestern North America (only one locality of R. acris s. str. is documented in ALA, from Kodiak Island) and northern Canada (CAN).
Chromosomes(1) 14 (2x). - Europe, Russia, Canada, Greenland. - Numerous reports.

All reports of polyploids need confirmation by voucher. Some or all may belong to other species than R. acris s. str.
