Publ. & Syn.DC., Syst. Nat. 1: 352 (1817). Described from the Doroninsk area in Dahuria (Siberia).
NotesYurtsev (PAF proposal) reported Delphinium cheilanthum to reach the Arctic in Kharaulakh (scattered). Friesen (1993) reported only one possible arctic locality west of the Lena River (in Anabar-Olenyok, not Kharaulakh).
Chromosomes16 (2x). - Siberia. - At least four reports.
Not included: A report of 2n = 32 (4x), probably from Japan (Kurita 1957). The species is not accepted from Japan.
