Puccinellia byrrangensis Tzvelev
Publ. & Syn.Tzvelev, Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 8: 80 (1971). Holotype (LE): Siberia: western Taimyr, the left bank of the Tareya River 2 km above the mouth, 02. Aug. 1966, leg. Polozova. - Phippsia vahliana subsp. byrrangensis (Tzvelev) Á. Löve & D. Löve, Bot. Not. 128: 501 (1976).
NotesPuccinellia byrrangensis is only known from scattered localities on the Taimyr Peninsula. Its relationship to P. vahliana and P. jenisseiensis needs to be studied. Tzvelev (1964c) indicated occurrence of P. vahliana in Taimyr, but as this information is absent from his PAF proposal it might mean that some material has been renamed. Bubnova (1990a) did not accept P. vahliana from Siberia. The polymorphy of P. vahliana is extensive, and as the species is rare in Russia its variability may have been under-appreciated. The species is only provisionally entered.
