NotesThe chromosome numbers reported for subsp. vrangelica are lower than those known for Poa hartzii s. str., but see Petrovsky and Zhukova (1981; 2n = 70 from Wrangel Island for P. hartzii). Soreng (2007) accepted this subspecies from northern Alaska and the western Canadian Arctic Archipelago (the Queen Elisabeth Islands).
