NotesMurray and Elven: Löve and Löve (1975a, 1976a, and earlier) accepted an amphi-Beringian and northwestern North American subsp. scabra and a northeastern North American and Greenlandic subsp. septentrionalis (see Fernald 1933 and Fredskild 1964). We have compared northeastern and northwestern North American plant and do not find the differences reported by Fernald (1933) consistent.
