NotesThe combination Bromopsis pumpelliana subsp. arctica was published twice in the same year, by Löve and Löve (1976a: 501) and by Tzvelev (1976: 221). The Löves' combination from 06. May has priority before Tzvelev's combination from 29. Oct.
       This taxon was accepted as a variety by Soreng et al. (2003) but not included in the synonymy of Pavlick and Anderton (2007). Subspecies or var. arctica is sometimes separable from B. pumpelliana s. str. in northwestern North American material but a very large part of the material (ALA) is transitional in the reported diagnostic characters. See also Hultén (1968a) and Cody (1996).

(2) 42 (6x). - Siberia (N), Far East (N). - At least five reports, two for "arctica", one for "ornans".
(3) 56 (8x). - Siberia, Asia (C), Far East, Alaska, Canada, U.S.A. - Numerous reports, many for "arctica", some for "ornans", and one each for "ircutensis" and "vogulica".
(4) 84 (12x). - Far East (East Chukotka). - Yurtsev and Zhukova (1978).
