Publ. & Syn.?Carex bipartita All., Fl. Pedem. 2: 265 (1785). Described from the southern Alps (Italy).
NotesThe name Carex lachenalii has been conserved over C. tripartita but not over C. bipartita (Turland 1997b). Turland (1997b) rejected C. bipartita All., stating that its type belongs to Kobresia simpliciuscula. However, it may still be confirmed as the priority name for this species, see the comments of Toivonen (2002: 315).

Not included: The report of the comparatively high-level number of 2n = 74 from Iceland by Löve and Löve (1956b) should be discounted. It was omitted by Löve and Löve (1975a).
