NotesSeveral authors have accepted two subspecies of Carex marina (e.g., Böcher in Halliday and Chater 1969b; Böcher et al. 1978; Chater 1980): subsp. pseudolagopina in as the major race in Greenland and also present in Svalbard, and subsp. marina in northern Russia, Siberia, Alaska, Canada, and as very rare in western Greenland. Toivonen (2002) discussed them but did not accept two taxa. We provisionally accept them.

All reports are from the Löves and collaborators and should be carefully considered.
Not included: A report of 2n = ca. 64 from Iceland (Löve and Löve 1956b, also omitted by Löve and Löve 1975a).
