Carex lidii Hadac
Publ. & Syn.Hadac, Skr. Svalbard Nordishavet 87: 24 (1944). Holotype (O): Svalbard: "Vindodden, sub mte. Belvedere", 09. Aug. 1939, leg. E. Hadac.
NotesCarex lidii is known from several localities on Spitsbergen and Edgeøya in Svalbard and from eastern Greenland. It has been assumed to be the hybrid C. maritima x parallela. Øvstedal and Haaland (1996) threw doubts on that hypothesis. We therefore provisionally accept it as a species until its origin is clarified. Both Engelskjøn (in comment) and Elven still consider the C. maritima x parallela hypothesis as the most probable. Carex lidii occurs in populations but perhaps of a clonal origin. Fruit maturation has not been observed.
