NotesIn Norway, Carex media is found north to the Arctic at Kjøllefjord in Lebesby (O), to the Borderline Arctic at Skittenelv in Vadsø (O).
       Elven and Murray: Carex media is often considered a subspecies of C. norvegica in European literature. We consider it specifically distinct. The two taxa are largely sympatric in northern Europe. The proposed hybrids we have studied belong to misidentified C. norvegica s. str.
Chromosomes54 56. - Europe (N), Far East (N), Alaska, Canada. - At least nine reports, partly for C. norvegica.
