Publ. & Syn.Hornem., Fors. Oecon. Plantel., ed. 3, 1: 938 (1821). Described from Greenland.
NotesCrins and Rettig (2002) accepted two geographical races of Carex deflexa: the widespread var. deflexa and the Cordilleran var. boottii L.H. Bailey.
Chromosomes(1) 20-24. - Greenland. - Jørgensen et al. (1958, 2n = 20-24); Hansen and Lægaard (1966, 2n = 24).
(2) 30. - Crins and Rettig (2002, secondary report).
(3) 36. - Canada (E), U.S.A. (NE). - Löve and Löve (1966, 1981d).
Elven: The difference between the Danish chromosome number reports on Greenland plants and the Löves' on northeastern North American plants is intriguing but the number of counts is low.
Ball: It would be more intriguing if the North American counts had been done by someone else.
