NotesThere is an Atlantic European race, subsp. germanicum (Palla) Hegi, that does not approach the Arctic.
       Hartman's earlier combination Trichophorum cespitosum (L.) Hartm., Handb. Skand. Fl., ed. 5: 259 (1849), is without reference to basionym. Crins (2002a) accordingly applied the combination Trichophorum cespitosum (L.) Schur.
