NotesJuncus minutulus is a mire and freshwater shore plant but also frequent as a weed. It is rather distinctive. It reaches the Borderline Arctic along the lower Ob River in northwestern Siberia (Kovtonyuk 1987). It also occurs in the northern parts of Europe and in northwestern North America (Alaska, the Yukon Territory, perhaps the Northwest Territories) but has not been reported to reach the Arctic there.
Chromosomesca. 70-80. - Europe, Asia (C). - Several reports possibly referring to this species.
Not included: A report of 2n = ca. 54 from Finland (Hämet-Ahti and Virrankoski 1970), a number intermediate between those of J. ranarius and J. minutulus.
