Dactylorhiza maculata (L.) Soó
Publ. & Syn.Orchis ericetorum E.F. Linton, Fl. Bournemouth: 208 (1900). Described from Bournemouth (England). - Dactylorhiza maculata subsp. ericetorum (E.F. Linton) P.F. Hunt & Summerh., Watsonia 6: 132 (1965).
NotesThe two sets of synonyms included above have been applied in one or more of our major sources for names. No attempt has been made to include in the synonymy the many subspecific (and some specific) taxa described within or close to Dactylorhiza maculata (see the International Plant Names Index with 17 subspecies per March 2010). Recent genetic investigations do not support these, at least not as species or subspecies (Bateman and Denholm 1983; Hedrén 1996a; Pridgeon et al. 1997).
