NotesElven & Solstad: The affinity of the Siberian plants is undecided, whether subsp. viride or subsp. bracteatum. The plants we have observed in northern Yakutia differ from northern European ones and are more difficult to keep apart from Alaskan ones.
Chromosomes40 40-42 (4x). - Europe, Russia, Caucasus, Siberia, Far East (N). - Numerous reports.
Not included: An old report of 2n = 80 (8x) from northwestern Europe (Afzelius 1943) may be based on an occasional polyploid and was omitted by Löve and Löve (1975a).
