Listera cordata (L.) R. Br.
Publ. & Syn.R. Br. in W.T. Aiton, Hort. Kew., ed. 2, 5: 201 (1813). - Ophrys cordata L., Sp. Pl.: 946 (1753). Lectotype (LINN): Sweden: perhaps Småland. Herb. Linn. 1056.11 (Baumann et al. 1989: 614-615).
NotesThe western North American plants of Listera cordata differ morphologically from the others, as pointed out by Rydberg (1900) and later confirmed by several authors. The differences are subtle, mainly quantitative and overlapping, difficult to specify, and perhaps mixed geographically (Magrath and Coleman 2002). In spite of this, the plants are recognizably different at a glance. We accept two races.
